Rhodes International Cartoon festival...

For more than 25 centuries Rhodes, in the south-eastern Aegean Sea, has been marine crossroads between three continents, a place where peoples have met —not always peacefully. It is in this converging point of 
cultures that we invite the cartoonists of the world to exhibit their work, to get to know one another and exchange ideas, and to laugh together with the people of Rhodes and its many visitors.
The Rhodes International Cartoon Festival is organized with the support of the Organization of Cultural development of the Dodecanese and the Municipal Gallery of Rhodes. Our aim is to establish it as a Biennial event and to this end we hope for the support of all cartoonists.
Technique and style are not in question, the possibilities are infinite. We trust and rely upon the humoristsÕ inspiration and unguarded instincts. But we keep in mind that reckless and untrammelled humour is the enemy of every dark thought and deed. And that this will be a better world when cartoonists have the last laugh. 
RULES
1. The 1st International Cartoon Festival of Rhodes will be held from October 25 to November 5 2002.
2. The theme is "POLITICAL PROMISES".
3. Each cartoonist may submit up to five cartoons, size A4 (210x297) or A3 (297x420), without captions. Technique and media are free. All entries must be 
original and not previously awarded a prize.

4. All works must reach the organizers before August 20, 2002. The organizing committee selects the works to be exhibited.
5. An international jury will be appointed by the 
organizers. The decisions of the jury are final and cannot be appealed.
The winners of the first three prizes will be invited to receive their awards. Expenses will be covered by the organizers. The prizes can only be received in person.
6. Works selected for participation may be used for no other purpose than the promotion of the exhibition and its purposes. Works awarded a price become the 
property of the organizers. All other works will be returned to their creators.
7. On the back of every work must be clearly written the name and address of the creator and the title of the work, if it exists.
8. A catalogue with the exhibited works will be published. Participants will receive one copy.
9. The prizes are: 
1. 2000 euro
2. 1500 euro
3. 1000 euro
Six honorary mentions will also be awarded.Various sponsors will award additional prizes.
10. Participation in the exhibition means acceptance of the rules.
