PARTICIPATION Ø The competition is by invitation and reserved to cartoonists, illustrators, graphic designers and artists who have won or have been nominated or whose works have been chosen in the previous editions of Eurohumor. Ø Those who receive the present announcement are also specially invited and should dully fill in the entry form. (Not competing artists are admitted so that they can be invited for the next editions) Ø This competition is reserved to artists from the following countries or to artists living or working in one of the countries making part of the European Union, or in the countries which are about to enter or have asked to make part of the European Union: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Holland, Denmark, Ireland, Great Britain, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Finland, Sweeden, Ciprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lettonia, Lituania, Malta, Poland, Slovac Republic and Slovenia as well as Russia, Bielorussia, Ucraina, Albania. Ø Those artists who may have access to this announcement through other channels (Internet, publication on specialized news bulletins) may send their complete curriculum vitae in order to allow the jury to specifically invite the artists concerned as from the present edition of the competition. THEME HUMOR AND POWER EUROPE OF THE MANY COUNTRIES OR THE UNITED STATES OF EUROPE Which new governance do cartoonists, graphic designers and artists imagine for this Europe which is getting bigger and bigger? TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Each artist may enter with a maximum of FOUR coloured drawings, that can be realized using any technique and mounted on paper or on canvas of a single size: cm 21 x29,7 (standard A4 Uni size). No passe-partout, frames or glass can be applied to the work. Each work must bear the signature or initials of the artist at the front, with name, surname, address and telephone number indicated on the back. Neither copies nor works already mentioned in any other graphic humor event will be accepted. EXPIRY The works should reach at the latest on August 30th, 2003 (the post mark will provide the proof of the dispatch date) and should be sent (by post, carrier or personal delivery) to: Eurohumor Biennale internazionale del sorriso c/o PRIMALPE-COSTANZO MARTINI Via Carlo Emanuele III, 15 12100 Cuneo - Italia JURY All the works that reach Eurohumor within the time limit will be examined and selected by the International European Jury, whose components will be notified on announcing the winners and which will be called in Borgo San Dalmazzo from September 15th to September 20th, 2003. PRIZES The first prize will amount to 8,000 euros, and four other consolation prizes of 250 euros each are foreseen. The organizers will invite the five winners to the exhibition which will be held in Borgo San Dalmazzo from November 23rd to December 1st, 2003; in that occasion, they will receive their money prize and they will be asked to participate to some open meetings on the theme: "Humor and power". CATALOGUE The works admitted by the Jury will be issued in a catalogue which will be sent to all the competitors. THE EXHIBITION The best works (60 - 100) will be exhibited on October 20th , 2003 in Alcalà (Spain), from November 5th, 2003 in Nice (France), from December 1st, 2003 in Borgo San Dalmazzo (Italy). Afterwards, the exhibition will be available for any European countries or for those countries about to enter Europe or which will ask to enter it. USE All entries received by the secretary's office may be used for publication, reproduction and any other type of exploitation (included the publication on web pages), aimed at the promotion of the Eurohumor International Biennal Event and of the Humor Museum of Borgo San Dalmazzo, which is being realized, for any publications related to Borgo San Dalmazzo wchih claims itself "Humor Town". All the competitors implicitly accept this rule and agree to the display of their work in one or more exhibitions after this event and to the eventual publication of these works in catalogues, books, posters, bookmarks, T-shirts or caps, calendars or agendas and on any means of service information requested or placed at disposal by the Prize Secretary's office. In any case, the name of the author, his country and the indication of the Eurohumor event will be indicated. The works will be made available for the Humor Museum which is being organized and, therefore, they are requested to be donated. In fact, Eurohumor has an archive of over twenty thousand works realized by two thousand artists from more than seventy Countries and the Township of Borgo San Dalmazzo is realizing a museum which will open its doors in 2004. Anyway, those who wish their works to be returned should ask for them back at the conclusion of the works of the Jury. Delivery will be made within 12 months after the main competition exhibition.
